NFL Week 1 TNF Recap

Ravens/Chiefs: The Ravens once again fell short against the Chiefs in a thrilling 27-20 defeat to open the NFL season in Kansas City. Lamar was electric, Isaiah Likely became a household name, Xavier Worthy was so fast, and the Mahomes/Kelce/Reid Chiefs looked like they were in midseason form. And most importantly, the betting went decently well:

The Gosh Darn No Good Stinkin’ Chiefs: It shouldn't be a surprise when we see Taylor and Travis sipping Hand Grenades on Bourbon Street in five short months ahead of Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. Simply put, the Chiefs are annoyingly good at football. We see too much of them (and their personal lives). But get over it. Greatness is the root of all envy. See you in February.

Likely Is Likely A Monster: Isaiah Likely Had. A. Game. His reception line was set at 1.5 and he ended with 9…resulting in a team-leading 111 receiving yards and a TD on 12 targets. It kind of felt like a "were they not watching the games last year?"-type of moment. Likely proved his worth last year when Mark Andrews was out, and now with no clear #2 receiver behind Zay Flowers and Andrews looking like he might be using a cane by the end of the season, I doubt we'll be seeing that 1.5 line again. Glad we cashed when we did.

Stubbed Toe: But Lamar being Lamar (26-41 for 273 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, and 122 yards rushing) and Likely having the best game of his career were just not enough (once again) to overcome the Chiefs, losing on a game-tying Likely TD reception being called back after an extremely clear replay showed Likely's toe ever so slightly crossing into the white paint. PAIN for Ravens fans and Ravens +3 betters.
